Everyone loves a song and dance, particularly children, and there’s plenty of evidence out there that music and movement can make a really positive contribution to a child’s development.
Bringing this musical magic to babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, local mum-of-two, Amber Jones, has created Music Bees; a series of weekly singing, signing & music-making classes in Redhill and Reigate. Inspired by Kodaly techniques, Amber’s classes feature live music on the ukelele, lots of instruments for the kids to play and explore, simple props, and, of course – bubbles! In her own words, “the classes are as much fun for parents as they are for children.”
Amber’s pedigree is irrefutable, having honed her practice over the last five years, hosting various Rhymetime sessions for children at Redhill Library and the local Sure Start Children’s Centre.
A career in the music industry has put Amber in good stead for performing to the local mums and their little ones. As a successful dance music vocalist and songwriter, with over 50 releases under her belt on labels such as Defected, Armada, Ministry and Skint, Amber still often hears her music on Radio 1 and Kiss… these days, usually whilst putting the kids to bed!
“Since having children, my career has taken a very different, but wonderful turn,” she explains.
“I went to lots of music classes with my children and enjoyed them, but my overriding impression was that I could make the whole experience better by adding my own unique spin to it.”
And luckily for everyone in Redhill and Reigate, she was right!
