Enjoying people is key to Simon Knibb’s eponymous web-design and branding business, Knibbs.
After training as a graphic designer, Simon left college and worked for large branding and marketing agencies in London before setting up his own company. A couple of years later he moved his family and business to Reigate, where he’s now been for more than twenty years.
Simon and his team of eight are all about “getting behind the person behind the business” – taking the time to find out a client’s core venues and what makes them tick, then building around those. “We work with small startups and big international businesses (some are based in London, but have meetings here on the way home on Friday) and we enjoy that variety. Large or small, it all comes down to authenticity.”
As well as web design and branding, Knibbs has more recently added social media management to its offering to give a modern enterprise all the help it needs to start, grow, and succeed.
When Simon first moved to Reigate “there used to be empty shops and not so many good places to eat, but there’s a lot more buzz now. It’s definitely more vibrant with plenty of quality restaurants, shops and events, but it’s kept its heritage and is still a friendly place that cares about its community.”
That care shows up in the support Reigate’s Small Business Guild give local business and local charities. “It’s inclusive,” Simon says. “And that’s important to me, because it affects everyone’s quality of life.”
Simon’s daughters went to school locally – “State and private are both good here, it’s a great place to raise a family.” – and he loves the life balance you don’t get in a bigger city, often spending his weekends cycling over the nearby Surrey Hills.
“Reigate is great” he enthuses. “You always bump into someone, then you start chatting and forget what you walked into town for! At local events too, you always know people. It’s a very social place: small enough, buzzy enough, but not in the least bit parochial. We loved it twenty years ago, and we love it even more now.”
