Despite being the Number One UK Boutique for Stella Magazine’s editor Mariann Jones, Quattro Rish isn’t in the least bit stuck up. “In the end it’s a treat, isn’t it?” says Ivy Bellagamba (the surname means ‘great legs’ in Italian). “So we have a very relaxed atmosphere: you can come in, browse, kiddies are welcome – even your dog!”
Chatting to Ivy (pronounced ‘Evie”) you immediately sense the pride and fun she and her staff of eight have in finding wonderful things for their customers. “We like to have a range and we know what our regulars like, so when we go to Copenhagen or London to find new brands, we tend to know what they want before they do!”
Quattro Rish has a host of loyal and local customers, but regular citings in the National Press for its personal styling service, brand choice and general ‘best of British boutique-ness’ have made it a destination for London’s fashionistas seeking classics with a twist, or tasteful forward trends.
Ivy and her husband Roberto started Quattro Rish over a decade ago. Stocking labels that feature in Vogue – and are hard to find outside of Harvey Nicks – it’s Ivy’s go-for-it friendliness and sense of what her customers want – paired with Roberto’s Italian eye for the next new thing – that have kept them at the top of their game.
They chose Reigate because they found it friendly, with a good community spirit, yet near enough to London to do business with the top buyers in the country. “It’s a lovely place,” Ivy says. “We love it here and we love our customers. It’s like a village with the things you like in London, but without the hassle.”
