There’s a touch of the rebel about Kirsty Taylor whose mischievous streak roams free at her interiors store on Church Street in Reigate.
From the naughty messages on the blackboard in the window, to subversive quips on teapots, to greetings cards with an insult for every family occasion, Taylor Jayne is a store that likes to shake things up. “It all felt very safe, very samey when I opened the shop” says the irresistibly cheerful Kirsty. “I like a bit of risqué, a bit of edge”. So too, it seems, do Reigate’s residents, and the showroom is now expanding into the shop next door to build on its success.
The experience of wandering in to Taylor Jayne might have you think you’d been transported to London’s Kings Road, such is the urban flair of not just the furniture and accessories for sale, but also the way they’re displayed. As a self-confessed design addict Kirsty admits to being obsessed with the presentation of the store and finding things to fill it, spending countless hours trawling through magazines and the net to find the perfect items.
But it’s not just the Church Street store that is a sight to behold. Taylor Jayne’s website is a complete online shopping experience that demonstrates a clear determination to make the digital side of the business every much a hit as the physical one. The items for sale on the site are stocked in the shop, so every order is handled directly by Kirsty and her team, ready for you to collect or them to ship.
“There’s only so much footfall in Reigate” says Kirsty, clearly not settling for a slice of just the local pie.
