Trudi Savin and Sophie Morton are taking over the beautiful Old Rectory in Bletchingley at various dates this summer – from March 16th to July 29th – for a series of block painting workshops.
The pair have known each other for a long time having both worked at the antiques and textile company, Tobias and The Angel, in London, but in two separate locations. After chatting one day they realised they had a lot in common, including a shared passion for block printing. They wondered if they could turn their interests into a business using paper products (the answer to which is an emphatic yes!) and the online stationery store, Yateley Papers, was born.
Over the last year or so, Trudi and Sophie have expanded their business to offer block printing workshops, making full use of their hefty collection of authentic hand carved wooden blocks acquired over the years: people can choose their personal favourite on the course.
“Everyone will come away having spent a very nice day” says Trudi. “They’ll have learnt a new skill and made a unique, hand-printed something or other. And The Old Rectory is a great location for anyone who wants to spend the day printing fabric in a wonderful property. The house and surroundings are amazing.”
